The Great Barrier Reef is the world’s largest coral reef and is situated outside Australia.
It is now threatened by shipping and its tourist popularity. The most popular activities is snorkeling and diving and the Co2 level increases. This kills the corals, and if the corals vanish, the animal life will also disappear.
The corals die because when the Co2 level increases, the water gets warmer and then they get stressed. When the corals are stressed they lose algae which are important food for them.
I think it's pretty strange that if a human is on a vacation he damage the life in the water. I don't know how they can solve this problem. Maybe it is possible to limit how many peoples who can go there every year? I think that may be the best solution. We could also stop think about it and use the coral reef until it complete dies.I read this at http://www.vg.no/reise/artikkel.php?artid=10030209
